Job Description :
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-rounded Senior Hardware Design Engineer for the Embedded Electronics Design Group. This electrical design engineering role involves applying sound engineering principles for leading and executing complex circuit design projects within the Electronics Division.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Works well in cross-functional teams.
- Recent experience designing complex systems using state-of-the-art commercial off-the-shelf FPGAs, processors, or systems on a chip (SOCs).
- Capable of starting immediately on complex circuit PCB designs with minimal oversight or learning curve.
Core Responsibilities:
- System architecture design and detailed documentation.
- Detailed electrical analysis, design, and schematic capture.
- Manage PCB layout design resources (work with ECAD resources; not expected to perform layout).
- Prototypes bring-up and debugging.
- Functional verification.
- Performance characterization.
Qualifications:
Education:
- BSEE required; MSEE preferred.
Experience:
- 7+ years overall experience.
- Great EE fundamentals and strong analysis/problem-solving skills.
- PCB Design Experience:
- Integration of state-of-the-art processors, FPGAs, and SOCs (e.g., Xilinx Virtex/Zynq/Ultrascale, Microsemi Smartfusion/PolarFire, Intel Stratix 10).
- Small embedded digital/analog systems, especially low-power embedded processors (ARM, DSP, MCU, etc.).
- Power Distribution Network Design:
- Simulation/verification using tools like Ansys SIwave.
- High-Speed Communication/Memory Interface Design:
- Examples include PCIe, Ethernet, DDR3/4, Multi-gigabit Transceivers.
- Ability to develop layout guidelines and verify designs/signal integrity using tools like HyperLynx.
- Additional Skills:
- System integration, processor selection, analog integration.
- Sensor design and integration, data acquisition, sampling, and control theory.
- Digital signal processing techniques, low-power design, signal integrity, power integrity.
- System grounding/shielding and EMI mitigation for complex sensor/actuator systems.
- Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g., C, VHDL) to comprehend FPGA/SOC/processor functionality.
Other Requirements:
- Must be local to the Cambridge office and support flexible in-office work (full-time remote employees not considered).
- Active clearance strongly preferred.
- Strong candidates without active clearance must obtain a secret clearance upon starting.
- Active secret clearance required.
