Job Description

International Asset Management Firm is seeking a seasoned, entrepreneurial professional to spearhead the startup of a new credit investment team in New York. Managing $5 billion in fixed-income portfolios, this is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in building a high-performing team from the ground up.

As a Credit Analyst, the individual will lead the development of innovative credit investment strategies, provide expert insights, and help establish the foundation for the team’s long-term success. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and a proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, startup-like environment. Frequent communication with the headquarters will be required to ensure global alignment and effective collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the establishment of a new credit investment team, contributing to strategy, structure, and operational foundations.
  • Lead and execute comprehensive credit research and analysis across diverse sectors, delivering actionable recommendations to support investment objectives.
  • Design and implement robust credit assessment frameworks to evaluate financial statements, creditworthiness, and value drivers of potential investments.
  • Develop and present clear, concise, and data-driven credit opinions to senior stakeholders, portfolio managers, and investment committees.
  • Act as a mentor and leader for the newly formed team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Collaborate closely with portfolio managers to identify, evaluate, and capitalize on high-value investment opportunities.
  • Perform advanced asset valuation, relative value analysis, and in-depth market research to enhance portfolio performance.
  • Monitor macroeconomic trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to proactively adapt investment strategies.
  • Maintain regular communication with the headquarters to align investment strategies and provide updates on portfolio performance, research insights, and team progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA and/or CFA designation strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in credit analysis, fixed-income investing, or related fields, with a proven track record of success in both buy-side and sell-side environments.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and lead a new team, design processes, and implement strategies.
  • Expertise in financial modeling, risk assessment, and credit evaluation methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel, as well as Bloomberg and other financial research platforms.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities with a results-driven approach.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to persuasively present ideas to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and managing high-performing teams.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment within a global organization.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across different time zones and cultures.
