The Senior Electrical Estimator – Hyperscale Data Centers (Richmond, Virginia) will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase by preparing accurate and competitive estimates for large-scale electrical projects. This position requires in-depth industry knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Estimation & Analysis :
- Develop comprehensive and detailed electrical estimates for hyperscale data center projects, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
Cost Management :
- Maintain cost databases and ensure accurate pricing for materials, labor, and other resources.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Collaboration & Communication :
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify requirements and expectations.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure alignment of estimates with purchasing strategies.
- Present and explain estimates to internal stakeholders and clients clearly and concisely.
Market & Industry Expertise :
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market conditions relevant to hyperscale data center construction.
- Leverage knowledge of electrical systems, such as UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, and backup power systems, to ensure accurate estimates.
Project Handover & Support :
- Assist in the transition from pre-construction to construction by providing detailed documentation and answering project-specific queries.
- Participate in value engineering discussions to optimize designs and costs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in electrical estimating, with at least 5 years specializing in hyperscale data centers or similarly large-scale, mission-critical facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, and hyperscale data center infrastructure.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
