Job Description

The Capital Project Manager is responsible for overseeing assigned capital projects from inception to completion, ensuring full compliance with federal government requirements. This role involves managing cross-functional teams that do not directly report to the project manager, coordinating with federal government representatives, and collaborating with subcontractors as necessary.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, updating, and managing the project plan throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implementing professional project management practices in alignment with federal government standards.
  • Understanding and addressing detailed project requirements.
  • Monitoring team performance against the project plan and resolving potential issues proactively.
  • Providing regular progress updates to senior leadership.
  • Ensuring timely updates and reporting to federal government partners as required.
  • Leading project planning and status meetings to maintain effective communication across the team.
  • Ensuring adherence to required policies and procedures, including procurement policies.
  • Delivering all required project documentation accurately and on time.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with federally funded capital projects.
  • Expertise in managing large construction projects.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams without direct authority to achieve project goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with practical judgment and a realistic approach to challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyze data and interpret reports and correspondence effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments, including office settings, construction sites, and manufacturing plants.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% as the project progresses.
