Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer serves as a technical liaison between suppliers, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams, focusing on supplier selection, qualification, performance, and productivity. This role drives continuous improvement within the supply base, ensures compliance, and manages Quality Management Systems (QMS) to maintain efficiency and effectiveness. Travel (25%) is required for supplier visits and audits.
Responsibilities:
- Visit supplier facilities for audits, corrective action validation, and relationship management.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and quality systems.
- Ensure purchased components meet specifications and regulations.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any concerns.
- Maintain supplier performance matrices to drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee corrective actions (CA) and resolve performance issues.
- Conduct supplier development activities to meet business needs.
- Identify and implement technical changes to improve quality, cost, and delivery.
- Use problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5Why) in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
- Deliver presentations at all levels within the organization and to suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Experience with DoD processes, products, and quality systems.
- Strong analytical, blueprint reading, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and CAD systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and influence supplier actions.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and ethical standards.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and eligible for necessary export control authorizations.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related fields.
