EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • 5-10 years job experience in a structural office or related industry creating construction documents is required.
  • Associates or advanced degree in a design/drafting-related field is strongly preferred.


EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Higher level proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD is required; must be able to model complex structures, create/edit Revit families, and the ability to problem-solve Revit challenges.
  • Direct experience in structural drafting, reviewing, and preparing construction documents is required.
  • Higher level of understanding of how structures go together, construction types (timber frame, logs, stick built), structural materials, and fasteners.
  • Ability to forecast project schedules/budgets for the team and work within those constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills with engineers, internal team, and clients.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing structural drawings and documents, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
  • Implement redlines from engineers, Team Manager, and clients to modify and create details and construction documents.
  • Use computer-aided design software to produce accurate and detailed drawings at 50% with minimal guidance from an engineer.
  • Coordinate with engineers to ensure the drawings meet the design requirements and project objectives.
  • Take verbal directions and apply that direction to the production of construction documents accurately.
  • Recognize structural or constructability issues present in construction documents, and work with Team Leader and engineer to resolve these issues.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with design and engineering teams is essential.
