Job Duties
Arlington County General District Court is looking for a dynamic individual that is looking for a position that requires strong multi-tasking abilities, exceptional inner-personal skills, and customer service. Position requires an individual to discuss and explain complicated courtroom procedures and policies to the public through phone or in person. Furthermore, position requires daily interaction with judges, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel. Job Summary:
This position (Grade 8) is assigned operational responsibilities in a high-volume office with frequent deadlines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for assessing fines and costs accurately; accepting and receipting payments; processing and filing court documents; answering phone inquiries; and handling a wide range of complex clerical tasks as well as data entry; alpha/numeric filing. The qualified candidate is committed to interacting with the public, external or internal agencies and divisions in a friendly, courteous, and patient manner.
Minimum Qualifications
High school degree required. Some higher education a plus. SKILLS: detail-oriented, highly accurate, and excellent at follow-up and juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced office. Organizational skills; Bi-lingual skills a plus, but not required. Must have the ability to explain procedures in a clear and easy to understand manner in person and on the phone. Experience handling money is highly desirable. Courtroom knowledge and experience a plus. Must be able to do data entry at 35 WPM while answering a multi-line phone system. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: lifting, bending to retrieve files going up and down stairs. Standing for several hours when serving customers at the service counter.
