SUMMARY:
The Lead Project Engineer will develop, design, test and execute next generation of recreational vehicle manufacturing through advanced design, materials, and processes. This role will lead and manage a technical team in day-to-day engineering activities focused on the next generation of recreation vehicle manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage a team of technical staff in the development, design, testing, and execution of improved design focused on DFMA principles.
- Work directly with operating companies on understanding needs and requirements for design.
- Lead a team in capturing current-state data from operations to develop a baseline for comparison of operational effectiveness.
- Ensure that designs satisfy all engineering parameters, best practices, industry codes, and standards.
- Oversee the prototyping of planned product/process improvement projects.
- Perform analysis on current state and future state projections of product/process improvement projects.
- Prepare all appropriate equipment/process flow documentation for operations group to properly operate and maintain equipment.
- Work within APT team in leading contractors, consultants, and suppliers to achieve on-time and on-budget execution of projects.
- Work alongside operating companies, contractors, and suppliers with production roll-out of developed solutions.
- Effectively communicate message and priorities of project process improvement.
- Monitor, track, and project budget spend for overall project within the department.
- Lead and direct team members during hands-on prototype builds and installations.
- Lead, train, and mentor employees and other team members where appropriate.
- Undertake other duties reasonable and consistent with the position as needed.
- Travel will be necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year degree in Engineering or related degree.
- 5 to 7 years of related work experience required, ideally centered around project management within engineering.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, mathematics, physics, and statistics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex mechanical systems.
- Experience with plastics and advanced materials is a must.
- Must be highly proficient with MS Office, MS Visio, MS Projects, SolidWorks/Dassault Systems, and 2D AutoCAD.
- Must have experience in utilizing lean manufacturing, six sigma, and DFMA methodologies.
- Experience in leading teams from project inception through execution is a must.
- Ability to effectively communicate results and program KPIs to appropriate stake holders.
- Ability to use basic hand tools is a must.
