We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Architect - Operational Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of Operational Technology (OT) systems in an industrial controls environment. The role demands expertise in OT systems administration, cybersecurity, networking, and SCADA, serving as a technical leader to drive secure, reliable, and innovative OT strategies. This position will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity and performance of industrial systems, enabling seamless collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and product development teams.
Key Responsibilities
OT Systems Leadership
- Serve as the technical authority on OT systems architecture and administration.
- Guide engineering teams on OT requirements, processes, and best practices.
- Identify, document, and mitigate product security risks.
- Conduct and report on cybersecurity vulnerability assessments.
- Promote standardized design patterns and develop technical documentation for OT systems.
System Development & Maintenance
- Lead the design and deployment of OT systems to meet customer needs, ensuring security, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to align OT security measures with industry standards (e.g., IEC 62433, NIST 800-53).
- Work with manufacturing teams to enhance deployment processes, including opportunities for automation.
- Implement and maintain OT tools to improve system maintainability and security.
- Support onsite implementations of OT solutions and provide advanced troubleshooting.
Cybersecurity
- Lead efforts in OT security, including hardware, software, logging, and monitoring.
- Oversee directory services (Active Directory, LDAP), network firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
- Manage OT-related private networks used in product development and testing environments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate across global, cross-functional teams, bridging product development and manufacturing.
- Provide support for custom OT activities, including system architecture changes and integrations.
- Present technical reports, project updates, and cybersecurity findings to stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
- 7-10 years of experience in operational technology, systems architecture, or industrial automation.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency with directory services, network switches, firewalls, and anti-malware tools.
- Deep knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards and practices (e.g., IEC 62433, ISA 99).
- Experience in industrial manufacturing environments with SCADA systems and virtualized infrastructures (e.g., VMWare, Hyper-V).
- Hands-on experience with OT-related risk identification and mitigation.
