Job Description

Capstone Search Advisors is recruiting for a Quality Assurance & Food Safety Manager for a food manufacturer in Cleveland Ohio.


Position Summary:


The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality assurance programs within the food production facility. This role ensures that all products meet both company standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance throughout the production process.


Key Responsibilities:


Quality Control and Assurance:


  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality standards across all production lines.
  • Oversee routine inspections of food products, raw materials, and production processes to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (FDA, USDA, etc.).
  • Conduct regular quality audits and establish corrective actions when quality issues arise.
  • Review and evaluate production records, data logs, and testing results for accuracy and compliance.


Food Safety Compliance:


  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and food labeling laws.
  • Implement and monitor programs to mitigate contamination risks and ensure safe food handling throughout the manufacturing process.


Training and Development:


  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on food quality, safety standards, and proper handling procedures.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to quality assurance personnel to foster a culture of quality.


Documentation and Reporting


  • Maintain accurate records of all quality assurance activities, inspections, and compliance reports.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory and internal quality reports as needed.


Continuous Improvement:


  • Lead initiatives to improve product quality, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Stay current on industry trends and new technologies that can improve food safety and quality standards.


Supplier Relations:


  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of raw materials and ingredients meets company standards.
  • Work with suppliers on corrective actions if product or ingredient quality is found to be deficient.


Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related field. Advanced certifications in food safety and quality (such as HACCP or SQF) are a plus.


Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food quality assurance or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, etc.), HACCP, and GMP.
  • Proven experience with quality management systems (QMS) and continuous improvement methods.
