Please note: this position is located in Chesapeake VA and candidates will be expected to work fully onsite during training with possible hybrid flexibility after 2-3 months.


Targeted Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000


JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a large federal integrator. They will be helping with the planning of the maintenance and overhaul work performed on Submarines. Under the guidance of a Project Engineer or Design Engineering Manager, the candidate will engage in various engineering initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and more. Their contributions will directly support manufacturing, integration, and testing activities, significantly impacting project success and technical excellence in a dynamic and inclusive environment. The candidate will tackle moderately complex engineering tasks and diverse design projects, utilizing sound technical judgment with room for independent evaluation, originality, and innovative thinking. Additionally, you will prepare and review critical Engineering Change documents to ensure project alignment and accuracy and develop and assess detailed engineering calculation packages and drawings, contributing to high-quality project outcomes.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Ocean, or Nuclear Engineering, or Naval Architecture from an ABET accredited institution.

• At least two years of hands-on engineering experience, with a preference for those who have worked on US Department of Defense projects.

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong technical writing abilities are advantageous.

• Experience with CAD software like SolidWorks is preferred.

• Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis tools such as ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation is preferred.

• Secret clearance eligibility is required
