Windows 11 Migration Engineer

6 Months with an FTE opportunity at the end

Must be located in the Bay Area, Dallas, or Sacramento

Hybrid one day a week in the office


IT Desktop & Applications Engineer

Our client is seeking an accomplished IT Applications Engineer to join its Enterprise Applications Team. Under the direction of the Applications Manager, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced candidate to lead the migration of our enterprise systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project management and in-depth knowledge of Windows OS migration. This role involves collaborating with various teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure a smooth transition from Windows 10 to 11, enhancing productivity and efficiency across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

-Develop and execute a comprehensive migration plan for transition systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11, tailored to the organization’s requirements

-Identify potential risks and create contingency plans to mitigate migration delays

-Assess the compatibility of critical internal business applications for Windows 11 compatibility (iManage, Litera, Kofax, Thompson Reuters, Office 365, etc)

-Configure and test deployment utilizing Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) or MECM

-Provide guidance on best practices and ensure that the implementation meets security, compliance, and

data governance requirements.

-Collaborate with other developers and software architects, including vendors & contractors (when appropriate) to resolve compatibility and performance issues

-Develop system test plans, ensure software quality assurance standards are achieved, and validate that business goals are accomplished.

-Communicate project goals, progress, and expectations to stakeholders at all levels.

-Maintain detailed project documentation, including status reports, meeting minutes, and project timelines.

-Provide regular updates to senior management on project progress, challenges, and milestones achieved.

-Report project/task status to the Applications/Desktop Manager, Sr. Manager, or CIO on a weekly basis (at minimum).

Skills & Qualifications:

-Proven experience leading enterprise-level operating system migrations, specifically Windows 10 to Windows 11

-In-depth understanding of Windows 11 features, hardware requirements, and security requirements

-Exceptional knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2016/2019, Server Monitoring and Administration, Windows 10/11, Group Policies, and Active Directory.

-Proficient in using SCCM/MECM, Intune, and Autopilot

-Advanced working knowledge of PowerShell scripting

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Certification such as Microsoft Certified Modern Desktop Administrator, Microsoft Certified Endpoint Administrator or equivalent is a plus

Education and/ Experience:

-BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

-5+ years of related experience.
