Job Description

Mississippi Home Corporation (MHC) is seeking a dedicated Housing Specialist  to join our team in advancing affordable housing solutions. This role supports the Federal & State Grants Department and contributes to the success of the Homeowner Rehabilitation Program. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager with eligibility reviews and application processes.
  • Track project progress, rehabilitation/construction disbursements, and cash requests.
  • Maintain accurate digital project files and ensure compliance with HUD and MHC program requirements.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and notifications for grantees and sponsors.
  • Support departmental events, strategic goals tracking, and file audits.
  • Provide clerical and organizational support to the Program Manager and Vice President of Federal Grants.

  • Qualifications


    • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Urban Planning, Public Policy, or a related field.
    • Relevant experience may substitute for education.


    • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Understanding of affordable housing and community development programs (e.g., HOME, ESG, LIHTC).
    • Knowledge of housing construction (a plus).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and adaptability to other software.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with diverse groups.
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines independently.


    • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to travel for work, including same-day or overnight trips.
    • Must hold a valid Mississippi driver’s license.
