Job Description

Overview

Join our team as an Electrical Engineer, where you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and integrating cutting-edge electrical systems for advanced optical and laser technologies. This hands-on role will focus on ensuring the flawless performance of high-power laser systems and payloads designed for Aetherflux satellites. Working alongside experts in optical, mechanical, and systems engineering, you will deliver creative solutions tailored to the demanding requirements of space applications.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement electrical systems for optical and laser technologies, emphasizing power distribution, control algorithms, and signal processing.
  • Collaborate with optics teams to seamlessly integrate electrical designs with high-power laser platforms, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics, printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, and wiring configurations for satellite and laser subsystems.
  • Perform rigorous lab-based testing and validation of electrical components, incorporating detectors, sensors, and laser control hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in electrical hardware to ensure robust performance under diverse environmental conditions.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams—including optical, mechanical, and thermal engineers—to optimize overall system functionality.
  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation, such as design specifications, test procedures, and system requirements.
  • Support space-qualification efforts by participating in environmental testing, including thermal-vacuum, vibration, and electromagnetic interference assessments.
  • Provide expert input during design reviews and recommend strategies for system refinement.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry advancements, applying these insights to improve processes and system designs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-6 years of professional experience in electrical system design, ideally within aerospace, satellite, or optical industries.
  • Proficiency in PCB design, signal processing, and power system architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing electrical issues in laboratory settings.
  • Familiarity with electrical CAD tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) for system design.
  • Knowledge of control systems and sensor integration within optical platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and validating high-power laser control systems.
  • Understanding of space-qualification protocols and environmental testing standards, including thermal-vacuum and vibration tests.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, particularly within optical and mechanical domains.
  • Background in embedded systems and firmware development for managing optical and electrical subsystems.
  • Familiarity with satellite electrical infrastructure and power systems for space environments.
