Job Description

AY Manufacturing, Ltd., a Tier 1 assembler of Sunroofs for the automotive industry, is searching for a Quality Assurance Manager at our Columbus, Ohio facility.

This position will be responsible for providing leadership and daily direction to the Quality Assurance group, Supplier Quality group, and Quality Lab.



This position will foster and lead initiatives to entrench a ‘zero defect’ culture within the facility. The candidate will interact with AYM’s various customers and suppliers as a management representative from the facility for “high-level” quality related discussions. Candidate will support direct reports (engineers/coordinators/techs) during customer and supplier negotiations and provide valuable technical guidance. This position also has responsibilities within the new model launch process (supplier and internal), and the candidate must be able to properly allocate resources between mass production control/improvement activities and new model launch preparation


Requirements of the position include:

  • 4yr college degree - engineering preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably Tier 1 automotive
  • Prior supervisory experience (direct reports) experience with associate relations and performance evaluation process
  • Hands-on mentality, candidate must be able to visit customers, suppliers, and also lead by example within AYM by ‘getting hands dirty’ during problem solving activity.
  • Candidate must have a solid track record of being hands-on and have a natural mechanical aptitude
  • Exceptional problem solving, decision making, situation and technical analysis skills, as well as design knowledge, project management, part maturation experience
  • Efficient multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to read technical drawings, prior experience utilizing 3D Cad software.
  • TS/ISO experience, preferably TS16949
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Strong Excel and PowerPoint Skills are a must,
  • Solid understanding of SPC methods and tools
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as work situations dictate
  • The ability to travel, both domestically and internationally (~15% travel)
  • Strong background implementing various mistake-proofing methodologies

  • CATIA V5 experience
  • Experience creating and managing department short- and long-term business plans.
  • Excellent documentation and leadership skills
  • Six sigma Green or Black belt certification strongly preferred
