Project Manager – Aerospace, NPI
The Project Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional teams comprising Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, Planners/Buyers, and Quality Assurance Specialists. This role oversees the internal lifecycle of new product development (NPI) from prototype design through Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and qualification. Candidates should have technical expertise in engineering design, manufacturing, or testing, combined with project management or supply chain management proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define project scope, create timelines, estimate resource requirements, and allocate resources effectively.
- Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and establish success metrics for project evaluation.
- Project Execution:
- Assign and manage team resources across various functional areas.
- Monitor progress, make necessary adjustments, and ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
- Maintain organized project documentation and communication schedules to update stakeholders.
Project Monitoring and Control:
- Track schedules, budgets, and risks while ensuring project milestones are met.
- Facilitate team meetings, resolve roadblocks, and present solutions to senior management.
- Project Closure:
- Prepare for handoff to production teams by finalizing documentation, addressing unresolved issues, and conducting lessons-learned reviews.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of experience in project management or formal training in project management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of engineering concepts, including reading technical drawings, Bills of Material, and Bills of Operation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Comfortable hosting meetings and presenting to senior management.
