JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer to lead the creation of a robust user guide for a developing service software application. This role combines hands-on documentation work with mentorship responsibilities, including training a junior technical writer. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in single-source documentation, information architecture, and software documentation practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Mentorship : Train and guide a junior technical writer in performing assigned tasks effectively.
- Documentation Development: Collaborate with developers and the junior technical writer to design a comprehensive user guide using UX/UI design principles.
- Content Conversion : Transform written content into a functional, user-friendly guide for the software.
- Adobe FrameMaker Expertise: Utilize Adobe FrameMaker to create single-source documents connected to the service software.
- Documentation Library: Develop and organize a structured library of application documentation for internal and external use.
- Information Architecture: Apply information architecture expertise to structure in-app user guides and help services effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in XML, JavaScript, and documentation-as-code workflows.
- Expertise in Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe RoboHelp, and Adobe Captivate.
- Extensive experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms and Single Source Authoring methodologies.
- Strong skills in gathering and applying user feedback to improve documentation usability.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate peer editing and manage production reviews.
- Experience in training or mentoring team members is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and how they inform documentation design.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
