Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer – Tooling Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining tooling solutions for large-scale metal missile canister manufacturing . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tooling engineering, metal fabrication processes, and production optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain tooling solutions tailored to large-scale metal missile canister manufacturing .
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and design engineers, to optimize production processes .
  • Develop and implement tooling standards, guidelines, and best practices for large-scale metal fabrication.
  • Conduct tooling feasibility studies, risk assessments, and process evaluations to ensure high-quality output.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve tool longevity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Ensure compliance with all industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols .

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field .
  • 5+ years of experience in tooling engineering, preferably in large-scale metal manufacturing for the aerospace or defense industry .
  • Proven experience in tooling design and fabrication for metal structures , ideally in missile or canister manufacturing .
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA analysis tools .
  • Strong knowledge of metalworking processes , including welding, machining, forming, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies .
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset .

Preferred:

  • Specialized experience in missile canister tooling and assembly .
  • Knowledge of high-tolerance manufacturing practices and large-scale quality assurance protocols .
  • Background working with the Department of Defense or other government clients .
