Patient Care RN: Operating Room

The OR is seeking an ambitious, compassionate and experienced Operating Room RN’s to enhance quality care and positive outcomes for our patient population. Bayhealth has three locations for Perioperative services in Dover at the Kent campus, Milford at the Sussex campus and the Surgical Center on Skull Terrace in Dover.
The Perioperative team cares for pediatric and adult patients aged 18 to 100+ whom we treat for complex acute care needs. We provide patient centered care to achieve optimal outcomes.

A successful OR Patient Care RN will have completed an AORN certification program and/ or have three (3) years of experience in Intraoperative setting. Services provided to the community include Robotics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, OB/GYN, Cardiac, Thoracis, Trauma, Neuro Surgery Podiatry, ENT, Vascular, Urology and Plastics.
General Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
2. Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
3. Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
4. Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
5. Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
6. Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
7. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
8. Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
9. Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
10. Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
11. Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
12. Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
13. Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
14. Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
15. Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
16. Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
17. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
Education: Bachelor Degree in Nursing within 36 months of hire, if not already obtained or Nursing Diploma; Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program/university
Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; *ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
