Job Description
PT Aids or Personal Trainers are valued members of our treatment team providing services to our clients attempting to regain function and providing valuable information to our team regarding patient progress and observed barriers. Across Boomerang our clinical teams include Physicians, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Cognitive Behavioral Therapists, Licensed Clinical Counselors, Nurse Practitioners and Art Therapists. We use an educationally based biopsychosocial treatment model to teach patients transferable skills for managing chronic pain conditions. Our Aids/Trainers work within a Functional Restoration Program and alongside physical therapists to deliver care plans.

What you will do:

Assisting the physical therapist in the treatment of individual clients and groups by carrying out treatment plans.
Educating patients in exercises and functional activities specific to their needs and goals.
Reinforcing a biopsychosocial model of treatment in daily interactions with clients experiencing chronic pain.
Ability to work individually and with an interdisciplinary team to plan and implement treatment programs.
Ability to prioritize client safety in performance of all job duties.
Communicate observations with team members in weekly conferences to improve client care.
Written documentation of observations in electronic medical record in a timely manner on a weekly basis.
Foster a culture of compassion and gratitude with coworkers and clients.
Project and instill confidence in interactions with clients and team members.
Conduct After Care groups for reinforcement of skill building with Functional Restoration Program Graduates

Qualifications:

Personal Trainer Certification from an accredited agency (NASM, ACSM, ACE, Nesta) or Athletic Trainer Certification (ATC/NATA) required.
1+ years of PT Aid Experience

Experience in a Rehab/Physical Therapy setting is a plus

Corrective Exercise Certification is a plus

Desire to help chronic pain patients improve their quality of life

Great for candidates who want to pursue a career in Physical Therapy (sign offs on observation hours by our DPTs

Proficient in Microsoft Word

Previous clinical work with injured clients preferred. Previous personal training experience required.

Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology.
Demonstrated ability to instruct and progress patients in appropriate exercises to build strength, flexibility and functional capacity.
Previous experience with functional assessments a plus.
Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
Valued skills sets including yoga, meditation, relaxation training, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and mindfulness are a plus.

Compensation Range:

Certified Personal Trainers: $25.00 to $30.00 Hourly

Physical Therapy Aids: $22.00 to $25.00 Hourly

All compensation ranges are posted based on internal equity, job requirements, experience, and geographical locations.
