JOB SUMMARY:
The USA Boxing Operations Specialist is responsible for assisting the organization with compliance, governance, and administration. This role requires a knowledge of USA Boxing compliance and governance practices, as they assist members with ensuring local events are compliant with USA Boxing rules and regulations. In addition, they serve as the front-line contact to assist members with inquiries about hosting events, along with creating reports, auditing events, and handling requests from various shareholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates sanction administration including, but not limited to, verifying physicians for every event, ensuring sanctions are correctly classified and properly charged, verifying, reporting, and communicating unsanctioned events, ensuring all sanctions are compliant with the USAB Rulebook, and verifying event financials and collecting additional sanctioning fees
  • Working with State Commissions to strengthen relationships, collaborate with state commissions on the governance surrounding unsanctioned events. Represents USA Boxing at the Association of Boxing Commissioners' annual conference. Creates annual "State of Union" presentation for USA Boxing
  • Addresses member inquiries via email and telephone
  • Review events on a regular basis to ensure compliance with USA Boxing regulations. Investigate and report unsanctioned boxing events to USA Boxing staff, members, and state athletic commissions. Assist members and shareholders with general events or governance related inquiries, via email and telephone. Travels to regional events and conferences, as needed.
  • Report information to state athletic commissions, or other organizations as required.
  • Attend and assist in facilitating monthly meetings between USA Boxing and their Local Boxing Committees.
  • Works cross-departmentally to automate processes and implement technical updates to ensure compliance with USA Boxing policies, laws, and governing body standards. Continuously researches and vets best practices, enhancements, and/or new software to ensure USA Boxing operations and compliance meet the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Assists Spanish-speaking members with general inquiries, translate applicable press releases and communications, and serves as a liaison to other USA Boxing department on translation services (if applicable)
  • Updates applicable manuals, rulebooks, certification documents, and other compliance and operations documents, as needed.
  • Serves on internal, external, and governing body committees, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Sports Management, or equivalent experience in sports preferred (or in progress)
  • A minimum of two years of customer service experience; Experience in the Olympic Movement strongly preferred.
  • Prefer bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Possess effective communicator, both verbally and orally.
  • An ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Position type: Non-exempt, temporary, Part-Time (20-25 hours per week); possibility to move to Full-Time
Reports to: Operations Manager
Supervisory Role: None
Wage: $18.50 - 20.00 per hour
Working conditions: Office building with cubicles
Typical schedule M - F; 8:00am - 5:00pm; Flexible as needed
