  • Med Surg 3CC RN position at St Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center
  • 30 bed unit
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4-5, Nights: 1:5-6
  • Common diagnoses include total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedures, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, medical overflow, hemo hemovacs, Jp drains, colostomies
  • Charge Nurse on each shift, occasionally takes a low acuity assignment
  • Weekend Requirement: every other
  • Holiday Requirement: as needed
  • Floating Requirements: Float to medical and telemetry
    Job Requirements
  • BLS certification required
  • Prefer surgical experience, post-op, early ambulation experience
  • Must be okay with first-time travelers
    Schedule Information
  • 0700-1930, 1900-0730 shifts
  • Manager to make schedule
  • If D/N rotate, 7-7 rotation will not occur more than weekly
  • Block scheduling may be considered if unit needs are met
    Unit Specific Information
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Occasional heparin drip, PCA pump, TPN
  • Nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: 1 tech for 12 patients
  • RT Equipment: Nasal cannula, RT does treatments
  • Remote tele packs, monitor tech to read and interpret
    Additional Details
  • Close knit and good culture on the unit
  • Bedside shift report is an expectation
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract)
  • Additional RTO will not be approved after submissions
