Job Description

Cohen Eye Institute is seeking an experienced Practice Administrator to oversee the daily operations of our busy ophthalmology practice, in Queens, NY. This leadership role requires strong management, financial, and operational expertise to ensure efficiency, compliance, and an outstanding patient experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Oversee patient scheduling protocols, ensuring efficient workflow and coordination between staff and ophthalmologists.
  • Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and manage administrative and clinical staff, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain staff manuals.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage billing, coding, accounts receivable/payable, provider incentives, and financial reporting. Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Medical Records & Compliance: Ensure accurate record-keeping, HIPAA compliance, and oversee chart audits and regulatory adherence, including MIPS reporting.
  • Office Administration: Maintain office systems, inventory, equipment, and vendor relationships to support efficient operations.
  • Patient Experience: Oversee patient satisfaction initiatives, address concerns, and implement strategies to improve service quality.
  • Credentialing & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain proper credentialing for providers and facilities while ensuring adherence to healthcare laws and standards.
  • Marketing & Growth: Develop strategies to attract and retain patients, strengthen referral networks, and enhance practice visibility.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in private medical practice management (ophthalmology is strongly preferred)
  • Strong leadership, HR, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks
  • Expertise in medical billing, insurance credentialing, and compliance
  • Financial acumen, budgeting, and strategic decision-making skills
  • Ability to drive marketing initiatives and improve business performance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
