About this position
The enrollment specialist is responsible for the delivery of enrollment services to families in the organization's voucher-based programs.
The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization's mission and achieve its strategic goals.
What you'll be doing

  • Enrolling families, including initial certification, recertification, and voluntary requests of services for various organization contracts;
  • Maintaining knowledge of all current requirements for families receiving subsidized services in accordance with the Welfare and Institution Code (WIC), the Education Code, the California Department of Education's Title 5 regulations and funding terms and conditions, and California Department of Social Services performance standards;
  • Accurately calculating parent fees;
  • Managing all documentation to verify eligibility and need of services on a timely basis for assigned caseload, according to organization policies, regulations, and procedures;
  • Assisting parents with access to child care consumer education, parental choice information, child care referrals, and identify social service needs;
  • Accurately completing required reports in a timely manner;
  • Maintaining detailed, accurate, and reliable data records in database on families served and services provided, while maintaining confidentiality;
  • Thoroughly explaining program requirements to parents;
  • Reviewing attendance records/provider invoices for all children on assigned caseload;
  • Working collaboratively the Education Support Services departments;
  • Assisting the enrollment supervisor;
  • Actively participating in all training provided by the organization and department;
  • Building strong rapport with enrolled families, new families, and external social services agency personnel;
  • Bringing a team-oriented, collaborative, and positive attitude to the Voucher Enrollment Services team;
  • Reading and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;
  • Actively participating in the annual in-service training;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table
  • Minimum of one year of case management experience and making eligibility determinations in the human services field;
  • Associate's degree in human services, social work, or related field (preferred);
  • Ability to perform intermediate level mathematical calculations;
  • Experience and/or training in state and federally funded children's programs, with particular focus on eligibility requirements and enrollment certifications (preferred);
  • Ability to multitask caseloads and deadlines;
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred);
  • Ability to adapt to a high-volume, fluctuating workload;
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills;
  • Ability to type with minimal errors;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with sensitivity to the unique needs of families and children, including those with special needs or who are at-risk;
  • Experience working with diverse, low-income populations;
  • Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
  • A California driver's license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance (preferred).

Job specifications
  • Reports to the enrollment supervisor;
  • Non-exempt, full-time, year-round work year;
  • Eight-hour workday; four-day workweek;
  • Hybrid work schedule with approval by supervisor;
  • Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization's contracts, or at organization discretion.
Salary
  • $23.00 - $37.00 per hour
