Job Description

The Tulsa City-County Library Bilingual Lead Customer Service Assistant is trained to help customers have an excellent experience, provides high level direction to customers concerning library services and circulation policies; charges, discharges and renews library materials; sorts and routes returned library materials to proper locations; processes daily operations report; checks materials for wear or damage. The Lead Customer Service Assistant is flexible and adaptable throughout the workday, in the type and location of work to be accomplished in order to provide superior customer experiences.
Location : Kendall Whittier Library - 21 S Lewis Tulsa, OK 74129
Salary: $16.25/hr. Bilingual positions qualify for a pay bonus awarded quarterly.
Status: Full Time - 40 hr./week
Schedule :
Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 6:00pm
Alternating Fridays 9:00am - 6:00pm
Alternating Saturdays 8:30am - 5:00pm
Occasional Sunday 1 pm - 5 pm at a Regional Library
A selection of job qualifications and job functions for this position are as follows:

  • Provides general information in person and by phone assisting customers in locating and discovering materials, connecting with available library services, or providing information about the library, referring reference questions to the appropriate resource;
  • Answers customer questions surrounding reference and reader's advisory;
  • Participates in merchandising materials so they are appealing to customers;
  • May serve as Person in Charge of a location, as needed;
  • May be responsible for training CSAs and Shelvers-under the direction of the manager;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required;
  • One or more years of related experience required;
  • Bilingual English-Spanish required;
  • Some college level coursework preferred;

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Physical Activity: Work occasionally requires stooping and bending. Occasional light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required. Some positions require considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions, e.g. use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal lighting, temperature, and air conditions.
Travel: In-town travel may be required occasionally.
