Schedule: Tues- Thurs11:30a-8p, Fri 8a -4:30p, Sat 7:30a-4p @ 5205 Melrose Ave, 90038 Duties and Responsibilities: - Identifying eligibility and assisting patients to enroll in all funding programs for which they are eligible.
- Meets with patients and their families to obtain information about their financial circumstances and informs them of the availability and eligibility requirements of various health programs (e.g., Healthy Families, Medi-Cal and others).
- Assists patients and their families to apply for all possible programs for which they qualify, providing forms and assistance as needed; reviews documentation and follows up to ensure patients apply; resolves related problems.
- Provides information to the patients and other visitors about their financial obligations for medical services; obtains proof of income and collects co-payments and other monies due.
- Obtains proof of insurance (if any), Medi-Cal/HMO coverage or other program that will reimburse for medical expenses at the Clinic.
- Monitors all patients and families for continuous coverage in various programs; follows up to resolve coverage problems and ensure continued coverage as required.
- Notifies patients that the Clinic is their Primary Care Physician (PCP); assists with transferring their alliance from other health organizations to The Saban Free Clinic.
- Makes follow up appointments for patient as needed.
- Enters data relating to patients and families into the Clinics software system including adding and deleting IPA patients, information regarding follow-up actions, insurances and other funding information.
- Collaborates with Registration/Reception staff to ensure that all required information about patients and families is properly documented in the Clinic practice management system.
- Ability to quickly learn the CHOI software system and become proficient within the first three (3) months of employment.
Position Requirements: - Two (2) years experience in financial screening and enrollment in all Medi-Cal and Managed Care programs highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology highly preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken English required with fluency in written and spoken Spanish highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks and to work effectively under minimal supervision in spite of interruptions.
- Demonstrated excellent customer relations and communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
