Job Details We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a rapidly growing construction management firm in Colorado Springs. This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build and shape the financial systems and processes of a new company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, project costing, and financial management, with experience in the construction or engineering industry. This role offers the chance to work closely with the President and a seasoned team to help establish accounting systems, manage month-end close processes, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Systems Implementation: partner with ERP implementation firm and help with implementation of Deltek Costpoint
- Month-End Close: Execute month-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. Ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
- Project Costing & Billing: Execute job cost analysis, WIP reviews, and cost variance analysis. Administer periodic billing processes, including AIA billing methodology, and ensure compliance with client billing requirements.
- Treasury & Compliance: Coordinate company treasury functions, including payments (checks, ACH, wires), and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations (payroll, sales, use, etc.).
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Develop and implement accounting procedures, internal controls, and segregation of duties. Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. (you will have support with this)
- Project Support: Collaborate with Project Managers to develop financial plans, monitor project KPIs, and support project closeouts. Provide financial insights to drive project success.
- Audit & Reporting: Prepare materials for external audits, tax returns, and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4-10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with AIA billing, WIP, and project costing is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
