Overview
We are seeking an experienced and talented Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring more than passion, they will be driven from within and necessitate excellence. This role demands innovative approaches with traditionalism in work ethic - you are expected to add value in your relationships and in your craft. Every day is a new day to grow and require excellence within the team. Your engagement and priority relies upon you. A strong background in working with natural, local ingredients from scratch is essential, as is proficiency in sauté, meat fabrication, protein cookery, and fundamental techniques.
Duties
- Assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring seamless service and high standards.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and quality standards at all times.
- Manage inventory, order local ingredients, and control food costs effectively.
- Supervise, mentor, and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled team.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative, seasonal menu items that highlight local produce.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen environment, setting the standard for the team.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of culinary experience, with at least 2 years in a fine dining setting.
- Proven experience in working with natural, locally sourced ingredients and creating dishes from scratch.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with a natural ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Expertise in inventory control, cost management, and sourcing quality local ingredients.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a focus on collaboration and mentorship.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
