Software Controls Engineer

Location: Georgetown, KY

Duration : Ongoing contract OR 6 month contract-to-hire based on performance

Industry : Automotive

Compensation : $50-$70/hour based on relevant experience


Required Skills & Experience

- Experience in Industry 4.0 (manufacturing, production, OEM, etc.)

- 4+ years of PLC programming experience (Omron, Mitsubishi, Toyopuc, or Siemens)

- Experience with Networking switches and database integration in ERP's

- Ability to travel 25% to client sites


Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience with AGV's and AMR's for traffic management systems

- Automotive or OEM specific background

- Master's degree in computer science, industrial, or electrical Engineering


Job Description

A top automotive client in the area is looking for a Controls Engineer to join the Final Assembly Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager in Georgetown, KY, the ideal resource in this role will support the Final Assembly department's objective to execute Capital Projects from planning through Start of Production (SOP) for all North American Manufacturing Centers. The day-to-day responsibilities are as listed below:

· Lead studies and plans for integration and/or refurbishment of current Assembly Production Information and Control systems across North America.

· Network design and implementation with servers, PCs, and other hardware; PC to Server programming, troubleshooting and implementation; PLC to PC/Server programming, troubleshooting and implementation; Assembly Logistics traffic management and system integration

· Lead studies and develop plans to resolve chronic issues in Assembly Production Information, Control and Logistics systems.

· Develop strategic business plans aligning with department hoshin for Assembly Production Information, Control and Logistics systems.

· Study past project and/or operation performance to determine areas of improvement, perform root cause analysis, and implement kaizens to improve performance.

· Plan Kaizen and Refurbishment projects for North America Assembly Production Information, Control and Logistics systems in coordination with NAM and FAE Site teams.

· Support FAE (Final Assembly Engineering) planning and regional teams with model change implementation, Hoshin initiatives, innovation, and team member development.
