Job Title : Senior Java/OpenShift Developer
Contract Duration : 18 months with potential for extension to 24 months based on budget and performance

Pay Rate : Up to $80.00/hour
Work Schedule : Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote; additional in-office time may be required for training, meetings, or team collaboration)
Position Overview We are seeking a
Senior Java/OpenShift Developer to design, implement, and manage containerized Java applications in a hybrid work environment. This role involves leveraging
OpenShift ,
Kubernetes , and
DevOps practices to develop enterprise-grade microservices and optimize performance.
As part of this role, you will contribute to the development of secure and scalable technology solutions, deliver innovative products, and mentor team members when required.
Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and deploy Java applications in containerized environments using Red Hat OpenShift , Kubernetes , and Docker .
- Implement containerization strategies, optimizing application performance and security within OpenShift.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Ansible , automating deployments and streamlining workflows.
- Migrate existing applications to OpenShift, ensuring minimal downtime and performance optimization.
- Design and deliver features in compliance with enterprise standards for solution design, coding, and quality.
- Identify and remediate application security vulnerabilities (e.g., CVEs).
- Participate in planning, estimation, peer reviews, and other engineering practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor team members when required.
Required Qualifications - Education : Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience : 7+ years of experience building large-scale Java applications.
- Expertise in designing and developing robust REST APIs and Microservices using Spring Boot .
- Hands-on experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes , including automation and scripting for building infrastructure.
- Proven experience migrating existing SOAP & REST services to OpenShift.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and storage concepts in containerized environments.
- Skilled in CI/CD tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, visible environment.
Preferred Skills - Experience building, deploying, securing, and managing OpenShift or Kubernetes across environments.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and container orchestration.
- Exposure to service mesh, load balancers, and DDI technologies.
- Knowledge of IAM platforms like Ping One, Ping Federate, Hypr, Okta, or ForgeRock.
- Experience with Camunda and process orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with cloud security management or governance tools.
Work Environment This is a
hybrid role requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. Candidates may need to spend additional days in the office for training, meetings, or team collaboration as needed.
Candidates must reside in the Chicago area and
be available for in-person interviews at the downtown Chicago location. No out-of-state commuters or relocation options are allowed.
