Description
Software Designers at MEDITECH actively engage end users of our software in order to drive the future development of our products. You will be responsible for leading user-centered design activities, understanding users' needs, and developing creative solutions to meet those needs. As a member of our Product Development team, your job would involve:

• Applying user-centered design methods to ensure the users' needs, goals, and workflow are the focus of each software solution
• Working collaboratively with our Development team to brainstorm and design innovative and accessible solutions to complex problems
• Conducting user research, identifying pain points, developing personas and user workflows
• Defining user stories and writing design documents, such as architectural plans
• Using paper and/or functional prototypes to bring design concepts to life, and supporting iterative improvement of software usability
• Understanding and applying accessibility principles for users with disabilities
• Conducting interviews, site visits, surveys, and performing other methods appropriate for a project with front line staff to C-level executives
• Helping the team interpret and understand users' feedback, and providing input for design decisions based on that feedback
• Acceptance testing of requirements identified in the design documents to ensure user needs are met
• Conducting design reviews and demonstrations to stakeholders
• Attending seminars and training to continue learning about UCD and design
• Representing Development on escalated customer calls, or participating in priority event discussions related to existing or future functionality
• Advocating for the user and being empathetic
• Participating in scrum activities, including serving as Scrum Master when appropriate
• Assisting QA with testing when needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's or associate's degree preferred and/or 2-3 years of applicable work or military experience
• Experience and knowledge in user research, design, accessibility, and usability testing
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to be sensitive toward the users' needs and abilities
• Detailed knowledge of user-centered design
• Well-organized and thorough documentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Hiring salary range: $60,000- $72,000 per year.
Actual salary will be determined based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
