Job Description

Hello Fellow Midwife Sisters!
We have a job opening with Estrella Midwifery at Estrella Women's Health Center. We have a sister midwife transitioning into the home birth world and are looking for a fifth Certified Nurse Midwife to join us! We want to ensure it is a great fit for all and are excited to start interviewing!
We are located in the West Valley of Phoenix, AZ, in Goodyear, and attend births at Banner Estrella Medical Center.
Our mission is to keep healthy women healthy through their pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum period. We offer group prenatal courses, prepared childbirth classes, breastfeeding prep sessions, and a bi-weekly postpartum support group. Our practice also focuses on lifestyle and functional medicine, and we maintain an active social media presence on Instagram and TikTok @estrellamidwifery, as well as on our website: estrellamidwiferyandwellness.com .
We strive to provide a birth experience as close to out-of-hospital birth as possible in a hospital setting. We are seeking a partner who values health in mind, body, and spirit, and who wholeheartedly believes in physiologic birth and listening to women. As a practice, we maintain a 6% cesarean rate and a 47% unmedicated natural childbirth rate.
This is a full-scope midwifery position with 3-4 days in the clinic and a 1:5 midwife call rotation. Post-call days are off.
As a CNM in our medical practice, you will provide comprehensive and personalized care to women throughout the lifespan, with a focus on prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting women's health and well-being, excellent clinical skills, and a collaborative approach to patient care.
Responsibilities:

  • Prenatal Care: Provide comprehensive prenatal care to pregnant women, including prenatal screenings, assessments, and education. Monitor fetal development, maternal health, and pregnancy progress through regular prenatal visits. Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans for pregnant patients.
  • Labor and Delivery: Manage and support women during labor and childbirth, providing emotional support, pain management, and guidance throughout the birthing process. Conduct labor assessments, monitor fetal heart rate, and provide hands-on support during labor and delivery. Collaborate with obstetricians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective delivery outcomes.
  • Postpartum Care: Provide postpartum care and support to new mothers and newborns, including breastfeeding assistance, newborn care education, and maternal health assessments. Monitor and address postpartum complications, including physical and emotional health concerns, and provide appropriate interventions and referrals as needed.
  • Gynecological Care: Provide routine gynecological care to women, including annual exams, contraceptive counseling, and menopausal management. Perform gynecological screenings, such as Pap smears and breast exams, and provide education on women's health issues and preventive care.
  • Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients and families on prenatal care, childbirth preparation, newborn care, breastfeeding, and women's health topics. Provide counseling and support to women and families regarding reproductive health decisions, family planning options, and pregnancy-related concerns.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, nurses, midwives, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and quality of care.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife, preferably in a women's health or OBGYN setting.
  • Strong clinical skills with proficiency in prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare environment.
