Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Medicine Physician to join our dynamic practice in Tewksbury, MA on a locums basis. This position will provide coverage for multiple maternity leaves, offering a rewarding opportunity to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care in a fast-paced and established practice.This role requires a commitment of 36–40 hours per week for 4–6 months starting in January, with the possibility of an additional position beginning in April or May.Appointments are scheduled in 15–30-minute blocks, tailored to the physician's experience level. On average, 20 patients are scheduled per day, with about 16 seen daily, allowing for flexibility based on patient cancellations and provider preference. There are no call responsibilities. However, physicians rotate through a 4-hour Saturday shift approximately every 7th–8th Saturday, which is preferred but not mandatory.The Family Medicine Physician will provide comprehensive medical care across a wide range of services, including routine adult physical exams, well-child visits, and obstetrical care with prenatal visits. Responsibilities also include addressing same-day sick appointments, providing diet and weight counseling, and managing chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. The physician will perform women’s health and gynecological procedures, such as cervical and endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, cryogenic wart removal, and IUD insertion/removal. Additional duties include conducting preventive testing (e.g., cholesterol, lipid, hemoglobin, and microalbumin screenings), school, camp, and sports physicals, immunizations, TB testing, and supporting patients during care transitions.Qualifications:Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family MedicineExperience in providing comprehensive care across pediatrics, adult medicine, and women’s healthAbility to manage a busy schedule with 15–30-minute appointmentsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExperience with Medicare/Medicaid populations is a plusLocated just 30 minutes north of Boston, Tewksbury offers the charm of a small town with convenient access to city amenities.
