Southeast Asian Development Center's (SEADC) mission is to foster a healthy, thriving, and self-sufficient Southeast Asian American community.Founded in 1977 in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, SEADC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to lifting children, youth, and families from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam out of poverty. Our services provide low-income and vulnerable Southeast Asian Americans with basic needs and skills critical to building successful futures, including jobs, academic support, language services, health, and wellness, while promoting cultural resiliency and social guidance.The Health & Wellness Department’s goal is to promote mental wellness and increase awareness of mental health access to San Francisco’s Southeast Asian communities through culturally and linguistically appropriate services. The department conducts wellness promotion activities, provides counseling, individual and group therapeutic services, and psycho-educational workshops.Licensed Therapist The Licensed Therapist provides clinically and culturally competent mental health services to youth and adults at SEADC. Responsibilities include conducting psych-assessments, preparing intervention and treatment plans, and providing short-term individual and group therapy.This position requires independent thought and discretion, as well as the ability to proactively assess client mental health needs and situations that require a higher level of intervention. The candidate must have a deep understanding of behavioral services and/or health prevention services to improve Southeast Asian Americans' health outcomes, with skills in evidence-based psychotherapy and behavioral change, and experience in delivering person-centered care.The Licensed Therapist reports to the Director of Programs.Position Title: Licensed TherapistCompensation: $91,000-94,000 annual, Exempt; Full time, expected hours of work 37.5 hours per weekBenefits: Medical, dental, vision, and AD&D; 401k employer match; Employee Assistance Program (EAP); Commuter benefits; Paid holiday, vacation, and sick days; Professional development stipendResponsibilities Provides clinically & culturally competent short-term individual counseling on- and off-site to SEADC youth, families, adults, and older adults.Provides clinically & culturally competent group counseling, support, and psychoeducational services on- and off-site to SEADC youth, families, adults, and older adults.Conducts screenings, intakes & initial assessments of clients in culturally appropriate manners that build strong rapport.Develops mental health treatment plans to identify client needs and goals and engages in continuous clinical documentation towards those goals.Collects and documents client and service information in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining client case files and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and funder requirements.Ensures clients receive high-quality services and follows all legal and ethical state and BBS guidelines.Provides consultation and guidance to staff on client’s mental health needs.Enters accurate client data and completes monthly reports in a timely manner.Administrative Duties (10%) Updates necessary changes such as new clinical laws and procedures to the clinical manual as needed.Collaborates with Project Coordinator to case plan for referrals and services outside of client’s mental health needs, including linkage to community resources.Assists Executive Director and Director of Programs in building a strong behavioral health program and participates in overall goal achievement.Attends external and internal events, trainings, and meetings as needed.Participates in monthly funder meetings that include clinical team consultations and program check-ins.Engages in meetings with SEADC mental health consultant as needed.Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs.Qualifications Education:Master's degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university.Licensed as an LMFT/MFCC/LPCC/LCSW or Psychologist in California.Required Skills and Experience:Experience working with children, youth, adults, older adults, and/or families from culturally diverse backgrounds and low-income neighborhoods.Demonstrated experience in short-term and preventative counseling, case management, and linkage for diverse communities.Combination of education and clinical experience related to behavioral health issues faced by the Southeast Asian community.Knowledge of issues of race, class, and ethnicity.Demonstrated cultural responsiveness, competence, and humility in therapeutic settings.Knowledge of trauma, chemical dependency, and dual diagnosis.Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.Clinical expertise to effectively assess, coordinate, implement, and evaluate services required to meet client needs.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to operate independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with privacy, health, and safety laws.Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Office applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.Experience with data entry and CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.Familiarity with project management platforms and online communications platforms such as Teams.Adaptability to new software and technologies and participation in the development of new systems by providing feedback.Desired Skills and Experience:Bilingual proficiency in an Asian or Southeast Asian language, especially Khmer, Lao, Thai, or Vietnamese.Excellent listening and interview skills to explore patient needs and administer treatment plans.Strong oral communication skills to counsel and advise patients.Coaching skills to help patients make positive changes.Organizational skills to maintain up-to-date, easy-to-navigate patient files.Additional Qualities and Requirements Passion for the organization's mission and values.Able to travel locally as needed.Participation in events outside typical work hours, including the annual staff strategic planning offsite and annual staff social day.Pass fingerprinting background check and TB clearance before start date.COVID-19 vaccination: We require all employees to be fully COVID vaccinated with proof of vaccination.
