Requirements - Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited colleges or universities - HIGHLY PREFERRED
- One (1) to three (3) years of perioperative nursing care experience
- Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Certified Operating Nurse (CNOR) - Preferred
- Ability to assess and reassess patients.
- Ability to perform assigned point of care testing (ex. Glucometer, Rapid Covid Testing).
- Ability to administer PPD as ordered and document readings.
- Computer application skills - ALLSCRIPTS, EPIC, Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Nursing and leadership skills.
Job Description The Senior Staff Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for directing patient care for designated shifts. Reports to the Nurse Manager and works with related departments on ensuring that patient care issues are addressed during the designated shift.
Provides professional nursing care to all people of all ages and their families. Utilizes knowledge of nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate and document care. Formulates nursing diagnosis for treating actual or potential health problems, teaching, counseling and providing care. Delegates appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel. Displays professional practice as set forth in The Brooklyn Hospital Center's standard of care, and the institution's mission and goals.
