Position SummaryAt Stony Brook Medicine, a Speech Language Pathologist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. The selected candidate would work collaboratively with our talented team of Speech Language Pathologists and department/hospital staff to achieve excellence in patient care.Duties of a Speech Language Pathologist may include the following but are not limited to:Outpatient service delivery for infant through geriatric swallow evaluations/therapy and adult communication evaluation/therapyInpatient service delivery for infant through geriatric bedside swallow evaluations/therapy, speaking valve evaluation/therapy and communication evaluation/therapy for acquired impairmentsPerformance of weekly objective swallow studies (Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing)QUALIFICATIONSRequired: MA or MS in Speech Language Pathology. NYS License in Speech Pathology. ASHA CCC-SLP Certification. Minimum of 1 year of recent (within 5 years) FT experience in an acute care medical center providing inpatient and outpatient dysphagia and communication services. Requirements include:Proficiency performing clinical swallow and communication/cognitive evaluations and treatment as well as Video fluoroscopic Swallow Studies and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing.Independence in the assessment of tracheostomized patients for swallowing and speaking valve candidacy.Candidate must meet Medical Staff Office qualifications for staff privileges.Preferred: 3+ years of recent full-time experience in an acute care medical center.Experience in the NICU performing feeding evaluations and treatment.Proficiency in providing feeding services for high-risk infants, pediatric aversion and behavioral feeding impairments.Special Notes: Resume/CV should be included with the online application.Posting Overview: This position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days.
