ANNUAL SALARY$84,083 to $122,983The salary in the Department of Water and Power is $73,852 to $91,746; $91,830 to $108,054; and $97,781 to $115,069.NOTES :Annual salary is at the start of the pay range. Please confirm the starting salary with the hiring department before accepting a job offer.Candidates from the eligible list are normally appointed to vacancies in the lower pay grade positions.For information regarding reciprocity between the City of Los Angeles departments and LADWP, go to .An Occupational Health Nurse performs professional nursing services including performing and assisting with post offer examinations, environmental health assessments, return-to-duty evaluations, cardiac stress testing, drug testing, tuberculosis screening, administering vaccinations, managing blood borne pathogen exposures, identifying and assessing safety risks, assisting in the development of policies and procedures, and conducting training and education. An Occupational Health Nurse may also be responsible for managing workers’ compensation cases.Minimum Requirements:A valid Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing;One year of full-time paid professional nursing experience;A valid Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card; orThree hundred (300) cumulative hours of paid experience in occupational health within the last five years as a Relief Nurse employed by the City of Los Angeles.PROCESS NOTES:The positions of Occupational Health Nurse in the Los Angeles World Airports require a valid Class C driver's license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) at the time of appointment. Candidates will not be eligible for appointment to these positions if their DMV record within the last 36 months reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation such as DUI.Experience in Ambulatory Care and/or Occupational Health Nursing is preferred.An Occupational Health Nurse Certification issued by the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses is desired but not required.Applications will only be accepted on-line. Emphasis will be placed on the following: Conscientiousness; Teamwork; Emotional Maturity; Listening; Written Communication; Safety Focus, including knowledge of: safety regulations and practices relevant to the nursing environment, such as use of appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE); sanitary clinical practices and conditions; Oral Communication; Job Knowledge, including knowledge of: the roles, responsibilities, and scope of authority of the occupational health and safety team members; various nurse-directed tests used in occupational health services; Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and standards related to occupational health services; the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) and the Privacy Act of 1974 as each relates to the maintenance and handling of confidential medical records and documents; nursing practices and procedures used to assess and treat illness and injury and provide appropriate medical treatments; standard medical instruments and devices used in a clinical settings; and other necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities.Additional job analysis information can be obtained by going to and clicking on Competencies under Occupational Health Nurse.The Training and Experience Questionnaire will be administered on-line. Candidates invited to participate in the examination will receive an e-mail from the City of Los Angeles outlining the specific steps needed to complete the on-line Training and Experience Questionnaire. Candidates that do not complete the on-line Training and Experience Questionnaire as required will not be considered further in this examination. It is anticipated that the on-line Training and Experience Questionnaire will be administered during the period of MARCH 26, 2025 to APRIL 1, 2025 .Training and Experience Questionnaires for all candidates who meet the requirements, and in accordance with Rule 4.2 as stated above, will be submitted to an expert review panel for evaluation. The expert review panel will assign a numeric score to each candidate based on an assessment of each candidate’s qualifications, as described on the candidate’s Training and Experience Questionnaire.
