Job Summary

To provide medical expertise and oversight of care that is being provided through the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. The physician is expected to exercise the highest level of expertise in order to optimize quality of care. This job code is to be used in Emergency Medicine only.
Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current State of Texas medical license
  • Current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency license
  • Staff privileges at all the hospitals for which coverage is being provided
  • Board certified in Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Certification preferred

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, excellent clinical judgement, communication skills, and quality assessment skills
  • Exhibits teamwork skills that facilitate interchange between multidisciplinary health care workers in order to provide quality patient care/outcomes
  • Superior problem-solving skills
  • Articulate and an active listener

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supports the facility medical director in providing medical leadership for pediatric emergency services at the designated campus as demonstrated by establishing standards of care and implementing best practice guidelines, algorithms, and protocols.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership skills, including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with administrative leaders, medical staff and all team members.
  • Completes clinician documentation review for best billing practices & risk management.
  • Attends location specific medical staff meetings, participates on hospital-based committees as assigned by the facility medical directors, participates in the clinical programs committees as assigned and participates in service line committees as assigned.
  • Attends monthly Emergency Medicine leadership meetings, monthly physician organization leadership meetings, and other designated organizational physician leadership meetings.
  • Assists the medical director in preparation and presentation of department performance data for quarterly reporting.
  • Actively participates in the Memorial Hermann Physician development programs.
  • Addresses issues/concerns with the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to MH compliance privacy policies.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermanns service standards of providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and our workforce.
