Communications Counsel or Paralegal (Part-time) Tyson & Mendes seeks an attorney or paralegal, under the title Communications Counsel or Communications Paralegal, who will report to the Partner and Head of Communications, within the firm’s Communications Department. The role will also work closely with the Communications Counsel as well as the Client Relations and Education departments to create legal training content.The attorney must demonstrate expertise in legal and non-legal writing and editing with great attention to detail. This position is responsible for producing high quality work and meeting brand standards across a variety of firm assets. The attorney will also be responsible for drafting and editing legal and non-legal content as it relates to assigned marketing and education deliverables, including internal and external facing presentations, trainings, and written materials.To be considered, please submit both your resume and a cover letter.Who We're Looking For…The ideal candidate must have excellent time management skills and be able to manage multiple projects with concurrent deadlines. This person will be responsible for researching and writing as it pertains to content and relevant legal subject matters, developing and editing legal and non-legal content, and continuously exceeding client and internal stakeholder expectations. This candidate must understand and be able to implement the firm’s unique marketing philosophies, presentation strategies, and brand guidelines. The candidate must engage creatively with subject matter and collaborate with all team members to deliver content that engages, educates, and entertains.ResponsibilitiesInternal Education ProgrammingIn collaboration with and with oversight from the Partner and Head of Communications, and in collaboration with the Education and Training Director: Draft legal education content, internal trainings, and written materialsMeet with firm attorneys to prepare and execute content for education deliverablesDraft legal content for firm learning, training, and education programs, including Tyson & Mendes University, Trial Academy, Book Club TM AIR, Nuclear Verdict Defense Institute, CLEs, recorded and live trainings, and other educational programs as neededDraft legal courses, learning materials, and curricula for programs to meet the needs of the firm, including collaboration with subject matter experts across the firmExternal Education Programming and MarketingDraft CLE and CE education content for external programming to clients, potential clients, and identified organizations as needed, including presentations and written materialsEdit and draft firm newsletter articles to ensure adherence to firm guidelines and brand strategyStrategically identify topics for newsletter articles, targeting areas and offices of growthAssist attorneys with newsletter topic generation and drafting of other marketing materialsCollaborate in drafting and submitting all research papers and narratives as required for presentations for claims organizations such as CLM and othersDraft and edit non-legal content to advance public relations campaigns and initiatives, including press releases and awards submissionsAssist in developing strategic content campaigns across all channels to advance firm growth and meet firm goalsEnsure consistent excellence in written product produced on behalf of the firm to clients and potential clients in marketing initiativesCollaborate with Conflicts team to ensure all newsletter topics and topics contained in marketing materials are conflict-free at time of publication or performanceDraft attorney speaking proposal submissionsReview and edit content for firm websites, including: Draft, edit, and finalize attorney biographies in accordance with firm guidelinesDraft descriptions of cases for the Nuclear Verdicts tracker, working in collaboration with the Design Coordinator to ensure timely and appropriate updatingDraft practice descriptions to maintain continuously refreshed materialsManage submissions of articles to JDSupra and other organizations as neededAttend regular Interdepartmental Client Relations, Communications, and Design meetings and other meetings related to content delivery as needed.RequirementsJ.D. and active law license in a state in which Tyson & Mendes has an office1+ years as a licensed attorney or paralegalSuperior legal writing and editing skillsExceptional attention to detailCapable of working on multiple projects with concurrent deadlinesAbility and desire to work and excel in fast-paced environmentExcellent ability to work on a teamExcellent ability to work independently and remotelyProficient in Adobe and MS Office SuiteWhy Tyson & Mendes?We are one of the country’s fastest growing civil defense firms.
