Description Fall River Health Services is looking for an
Occupational Therapist. The person in this role will beresponsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of occupational therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. In this role you will administer treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease of physical disability. The ideal candidate for this position will assist patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
Responsibilities: Provides appropriate supervision to assistants/aides.
Performs an appropriate assessment of each patient and directs each plan of care based upon identified deficit areas. This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Observes and evaluates patient response to treatment and
discusses any recommended plan of care changes with the physician.
Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Coordinates
and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs and hospital policy is followed.
Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities. Manages and operate utilizes modality equipment both safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety. Maintains records pertinent to the operation of the department. Meets
current documentation standards and policies.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patient and family. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.
Demonstrates the ability to be both flexible and organized and can effectively function under stressful situations. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient
care and performance improvement activities. Participates in educational staff performance improvement in-services. Assists with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members. Participate in continuing education programs per facility need,
as well as established state/national CEU requirements
The average compensation for this position is $37.00- $43.00 an hour depending on your experience.
Requirements Education/Experience/Licensure: - Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program in collaboration with the America
Occupational Therapy Association. - Two years acute care, long-term care or home health experience preferred.
- Current license to practice in the state of South Dakota.
- Current BLS certification or within 90 days of hire.
- Access to reliable transportation to ensure the ability to provide service to all clients and to
all areas serviced by the facility. - Valid State Driver's License.
- Proof of automobile insurance that meets at least the minimum state mandated insurance
requirement
