Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Charge Nurse to join our long-term care team. The Charge Nurse will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our residents and ensuring that our facility operates smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strong nursing background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of our residents.
Responsibilities:
  1. Clinical Leadership:
    • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing staff on your assigned shift.
    • Oversee the delivery of care to residents, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality and is in compliance with state and federal regulations.
    • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update resident care plans.
  2. Medication Management:
    • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor residents for any adverse reactions.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration and resident response.
  3. Assessment and Documentation:
    • Perform assessments of residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records and documentation.
  4. Staff Supervision:
    • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
    • Provide guidance and support to ensure proper care is delivered.
  5. Emergency Response:
    • Respond to emergencies, assess the situation, and take appropriate action to ensure resident safety.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals as needed in emergency situations.
  6. Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, helping to identify and implement best practices.
    • Ensure that infection control protocols are followed diligently.
  7. Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and other members of the healthcare team.
    • Report changes in resident conditions to the appropriate parties.
  8. Compliance:
    • Maintain a strong understanding of all relevant regulations and ensure compliance within your area of responsibility.
    • Assist in the preparation for and participation in regulatory surveys and inspections.
Qualifications:
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with 5 years in long-term care preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of geriatric nursing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of and commitment to resident-centered care.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
