Qualifications:
- At least one of the following qualifications is required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a relevant major
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a relevant major and two (2) years of relevant experience
- High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of relevant experience with progressive increase in responsibilities
- Holds valid Florida certification in the area of Occupational Therapy
- Holds professional license as an Occupational Therapist
*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities: - Practices according to Chapter 486, Florida Statutes.
- Provides screenings and/or evaluations for students demonstrating deficits in fine motor skills or other areas.
- Provides evaluations in accordance with state and district guidelines for the purpose of determining initial or continued need for service and submits evaluation reports.
- Consults with educational staff, parents, and other health professionals regarding students staffed into Occupational Therapy Program when indicated in IEP.
- Participates in staffing/IEP conferences as assigned.
- Develops goals and objectives for Individualized Education Plans and/or plan of care using data collected during therapy sessions, evaluations, and input from parents and school staff.
- Schedules and implements occupational therapy treatment as written on student's Individual Education Plan goals and objectives.
- Prepares progress reports for all students receiving occupational therapy services.
- Trains, schedules and supervises a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (s) (COTA), paraprofessional or other staff working with a student, as appropriate.
- Utilizes electronic systems of data collection and reporting (including Medicaid billing as appropriate) in accordance with district guidelines.
- Performs other job-related functions as assigned.
