Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to manage and oversee the master engineering schedule for all projects. This role involves leading, coordinating, and supervising team members to achieve plan objectives, writing equipment/tooling specifications, and overseeing the design, installation, start-up, and trials of new equipment/tooling. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating documentation required for capital investment approvals and establishing manufacturing processes that meet all KPI targets. This role also includes ongoing process support and problem-solving to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the master engineering schedule for all projects.
  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise team members to achieve plan objectives.
  • Write equipment/tooling specifications and oversee the design, construction, installation, start-up, and trials of new equipment/tooling.
  • Create documentation required for capital investment approvals.
  • Establish manufacturing processes that meet KPI targets for capital investment, part cost, scrap, part performance, delivery, layout, cycle time, efficiency, safety, ergonomic, and quality deliverables.
  • Develop all required process documentation, including specifications, PFMEA's, risk analysis, process plans, PFD's, work combination tables, design reviews, trial reports, work instructions, condition standards, and capacity statements.
  • Proactively work to produce processes that prevent defects in the next process and implement countermeasures for those that do.
  • Conduct problem-solving and root cause analysis for process issues.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, particularly with Keyence or Mitsubishi PLCs.
  • Experience in controls engineering, vision systems, and working with 6-axis robots.
  • Ability to write complex PLC programs from scratch and design/build control circuits.
  • Project experience from design through implementation.
  • Thorough understanding of networking protocols including Ethernet, CC-Link, serial communication, and addressing.
  • Experience in writing macros and IP addressing.
  • Ability to read drawings, identify critical characteristics, lead design reviews, and develop PFMEA's.
  • Capability to lead and conduct root cause analysis for current problems and potential occurrences.
  • Strong knowledge of Toyota Production System and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Knowledge of TS and ISO requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong work ethic and ability to take ownership/responsibility for projects.
  • High level of productivity and ability to maintain it.
  • High aptitude to pick up on engineering principles and new technology.
Work Environment
The work environment is clean and safe, although it is non-climate controlled. The role offers excellent benefits and is based at the largest employer in the area, with a workforce of 1200 employees.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $78000.00 - $100000.00
TG Kentucky offers a variety of benefits that include Health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, disability are paid and free for employers. Person will accrue 10 days PTO first 2 years, 13 paid holidays. Largest employer in area. 401k match up to 3%. They will cover COBRA fees for new employees until benefits start. Good work/life balance. Rare to work weekends for Engineers. Clean environment and strong quality/safe atmosphere.
