Computer Engineer at Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary Computer Engineer position is assigned to the Biomedical Section of Facilities Management Service at the Boise VA Medical Center (BVAMC), Boise ID. The Computer Engineer provides technical support for all matters of concern overseeing the operating implementation and upkeep of networked electronics systems of Boise VA Medical center and all associated Clinical Outpatient Centers (CBOCs). Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Overseeing the operating implementation and upkeep of multiple networked electronic systems. Providing technical support and management of systems, security controls including but not limited to security cameras, panic alarms, card readers, the pneumatic tube system, guest Wi-Fi, direct digital control (DDC) server maintenance, A/V systems for education and conference rooms, que management for laboratory and pharmacy, pharmacy pill counters/packagers, power mobile shelving, inventory dispensing systems, and nurse call. Providing additional management to all features of Real Time Locating System (RTLS) including asset tracking, inventory management, patient elopement systems and cardiac cath lab inventory management. Providing preventive maintenance inspections, maintenance and repair, calibration, installation, modification, and user training. Diagnosing and/or resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents via trouble tickets. Preforms all software updates and patching for networked electronic system. Ability to recognize hazardous conditions and procedures with electronic instrumentation system and initiates appropriate preventive or corrective action. Ability to determine whether a system is to be used, removed from, to be restored to, or allowed to remain in clinical use. Serves as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for design and implements projects associated with electronic system. Reviews all contractor's technical submittals, shop drawings, design computations, or similar information on materials for conformance with plans and specifications for these systems. Represents the organization at vendor events, meetings and conferences as required keeping the facility updated as possible with compliance.
