Community Impact is looking for a passionate and experienced Managing Editor to lead their newsroom in the San Antonio Metro. As Managing Editor, you'll play a crucial role in shaping news coverage and ensuring delivery of local and useful content across all platforms, including our monthly print newspapers, website, and daily newsletters.
The Managing Editor is the guardian of Community Impact's editorial focus of serving as a business journal for the average resident. You will lead and mentor a team of talented reporters and editors to accomplish this vision, overseeing the editorial process from ideation to publication for our editorial products.
This role requires a deep understanding of the local media landscape, a passion for community journalism, and a proven ability to coach and inspire a newsroom. Collaboration is also key, as the Managing Editor will partner closely with other managers and the Market President to produce high quality content. The San Antonio Managing Editor will also serve as the editor of two publications in the market, including Boerne and North San Antonio.

• Have demonstrated first-rate editing skills and a proven track record of coaching reporters
• Notice areas of needed improvement in the media you consume
• Have a penchant for identifying news opportunities in your community
• Can network and develop story ideas through source relationships
• Guide and mentor others with a servant leadership mindset
• Know your way around a content management system
• Are not looking for a remote role. This position is based in the office and field.
• Have at least five years of experience writing and editing for digital and/or print publications
