Job Description

The Director of Employee Benefits is responsible for overseeing the development, strategy, implementation, and administration of the company’s employee benefits programs. This role ensures that all benefits offerings are competitive, compliant with legal requirements, are aligned with the company’s overall strategic goal, and optimize the cost-effectiveness of the company’s benefit programs. The Director manages the Leaves of Absence and Benefit Teams.


Key Duties, Responsibilities and Experience:

  • Design, implement, and administer employee benefit programs (health, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary, retirement plans, wellness programs, etc.)
  • Administration of 401(k), Non-Qualified, and RRSP Plans, serve as Chairperson of the Retirement Committee and work with the Registered Investment Advisor
  • Oversee and manage the administration of all health and welfare plans, including but not limited to working with the broker/consultant, third-party vendors and internal partners
  • Manage the HRIS processes within the benefits function and work closely with the HRIS and payroll teams
  • Oversee the benefits enrollment process, including annual enrolment periods, new hire onboarding and plan changes
  • Monitor and comply with legal requirements, including Federal, State and Local laws, including required annual filings
  • Manage annual 401(k) audit, 11-K filing, and non-discrimination testing, as well as all applicable Form 5500 filings
  • Assist in due diligence and integration for mergers and acquisitions


Requirements:

  • Degree in HR, Finance/Accounting, Business Administration or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience managing, administering and communicating health, welfare and retirement plans and programs
  • Merger and acquisition
  • Global benefits, specifically Canada, India and Mexico
  • Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment
  • Manage a team of 4+ employees
  • Preferred certifications include: CEBS, CBS, PHR, SHRM-PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
  • Multi-state, multi-site location experience preferred
  • Experience with HRIS systems, Oracle HCM a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
