JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. JOB SUMMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES Under general supervision, a Computer Scientist II provides software and systems engineering services, generally as a member of a work unit or group. Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties: • Advise team and project managers on technical problems • Interact with customers and project managers on a regular basis • Use judgment and initiative in developing analytical and computational technologies and methodologies for problem solving • Interpret customer requirements and develop and analyze the most appropriate approach to solve technical problems • Assist in the design of system/software and associated design documentation • Participate in design reviews • Implement design through software coding or hardware and appropriately document the design implementation • Plan and execute unit, integration, and system testing • Assist in maintenance and sustainment activities of system/software • Perform other job-related duties, as required RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION The Computer Scientist will operate and administer real-time flight test systems in various sections located at Ridley Mission Control Center (RMCC) including but not limited to the Security Operations Center (SOC), Mission Control Room (MCR) Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Communications Center, etc. A list of various systems includes Active Directory Domain Servers, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) systems, Network Attached Storages (NAS), Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) servers, Domain Name System, the Mission Control System (MCS)/IADS, SON-Data; Juniper based Next Generation Data Acquisition Transmission System (NGDATS), Federated Edwards Digital Switch (FEDS), Compunetix, etc. The Computer Scientist will administer/create Microsoft Access, SQL, and other databases. The Computer Scientist will write scripts to assist in the automation of systems and duties/functions. The candidate will perform configuration and administration functions on all required support systems. The candidate will perform various tasks regarding Media Management to ensure customer requests are fulfilled, inventory is tracked, and documentation is accurate. Additional experience and duties include but are not limited to: • Administers/creates Microsoft Access and SQL databases. • Writes/modifies automation scripts for mission systems. • Assists with installation of hardware and software. • Work with and provide customer service to a variety of customers • Proficient with; • Windows 10 and up and Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 and up • Linux-based OS: Red Hat (RHEL 7 and up). • Network switch/router configurations (Cisco and Juniper) and type one IPbased decrypters. • Citrix Provisioning Services • Windows Server 2016 Active Directory Domain Services and newer • Scripting utilizing PowerShell, Python, and other programming languages. • In coordination with system administrators, perform computer and network administration in accordance with documented security directives and requirements. Prior experience with, and knowledge of, Dept. of Defense protocols and policies is a requirement. • Assists in the creation of documentation related to system creation/modifications to include Operating Instructions (OIs). • Must be able to obtain a CompTIA Security certification within the first six months of the hire date or possess a current CompTIA Security certification. • Other duties as assigned. This job is performed at the RMCC, in a real-time mission support environment. This position requires the candidate to be processed and approved for various security clearances. Maintaining these security clearances is mandatory for job retention. The successful candidate could potentially work long hours (overtime), odd hours (very early mornings, or late evenings), and weekends in a high-pressure, dynamic environment. Demonstrated, successful adaptation to such similarly demanding environments is a plus. The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written is highly desired. There is a great deal of technical documentation associated with this position. This candidate will be cross-utilized in multipurpose areas throughout an environment that supports real-time operations. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Highly desired experience would include cross-utilization in multi-purposed areas throughout an environment that supports real-time operations, having an active DOD secret security clearance or higher, and possessing a current CompTIA Security certification. REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE A bachelor's degree in an associated discipline and either two years of related experience or a master's degree in an associated discipline are required for this position. In addition, a Computer Scientist II must possess the following qualifications: • Experience with computer-based systems and applications • Programming skills in languages used for job-specific programming tasks • Familiarity with the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniques. Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license. Must be able to qualify and maintain a Security Clearance. Must be a US citizen. SALARY The expected salary range for this position is $118,497 to $125,000 annually.
