Summary:
The role of a Production Planner is to assist with the scheduling and timelines of all production processes to ensure the company meets all customer deadlines. This could be planning production in specific areas or as a collective department on the shop floor. This role is a part of the planning/scheduling department and reports to the Master Production Planner.
Responsibilities include:
- Review MRP software (PLEX) to ensure raw materials are in stock when needed to release production jobs to the floor.
- Maintain and create production schedules using a job dispatch list found within ERP system (PLEX).
- Provide open communication with production supervisors when issues, concerns or changes arise to maintain a proactive production environment.
- Provide insight/updates about jobs that are at risk of being delayed so they can inform customers accordingly.
- Process customer order change requests within ERP system (PLEX) as they come in and adjust production schedules accordingly.
- Create and release jobs to the production floor.
- Provide backup to Master Production Planner as necessary.
Skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business management, related field and/or 2 years relevant work experience in planning/scheduling.
- Sound knowledge of ERP/MRP software applications and how they function for planning/scheduling purposes.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple departments/people at any given time.
- Previous experience in a Planning Role
- Excellent time management, attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prepare status and production performance reports when necessary.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office application.
