The Operations Manager manages execution of production, equipment maintenance, production control and materials planning and other value-chain activities. Responsibilities are to ensure the efficient production of goods and services, manage direct labor force, plan production, allocate resources and coordinate execution of the value chain within the facility. The Operations Manager is responsible for schedule attainment, including on-time delivery, as well as cost, quality, training and other functions, and business process improvement within Operations.
Responsibilities :
• Manage and mentor a team of technicians and manufacturing engineers, make work assignments and apply and utilize manufacturing resources to achieve full production potential while improving efficiency and reducing waste.
• Manage and improve on-time, high-quality, low-cost production and delivery.
• Periodically review and assess employee skills and initiate training programs as needed.
• Monitor efficiency and resource utilization, establish and incorporate continuous improvement standards and methods
• Oversee equipment maintenance, set maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
• Manage all aspects of Production Control, ensure timely scheduling of sales orders and updates to sales order status.
• Create and manage work orders, database updates and other PC functions.
• Maintain a safe work environment and supervise the Safety Committee; encourage safety improvement
• Provide support to Quality, Engineering and Finance functions as required, including implementing corrective actions
• Assesses operational business processes for weaknesses or opportunities for improvement, and manages project to implement those improvements
• Maintain monitoring of key performance metrics for Manufacturing
Education/experience :
* BS degree in Optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering preferred; optics and/or thin film manufacturing experience may be a suitable substitute
* 10 years operational experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment, including 5 years in optics and/or thin film manufacturing
* At least one year experience with clean room environments
* APICS certification and Lean Manufacturing certification are both preferred
