Job Summary: The Commercial Real Estate Underwriter/Portfolio Manager will be responsible for evaluating, underwriting, and managing a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate loans. This role involves analyzing financial statements, property performance, market trends, and borrower creditworthiness to make informed lending decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial real estate financing and a proven ability to manage loan portfolios effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed underwriting of commercial real estate loan applications, including property-level cash flow analysis, market analysis, and borrower credit assessment.
- Review and analyze financial statements, rent rolls, property appraisals, and other relevant documents.
- Assess risk and structure loan terms to mitigate potential issues while meeting company lending criteria.
- Prepare detailed credit memos and present recommendations to the credit committee.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate loans, ensuring compliance with loan terms and conditions.
- Monitor property and borrower performance, identifying and addressing potential risks proactively.
- Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and provide recommendations for risk mitigation or loan restructuring when necessary.
- Maintain strong relationships with borrowers, brokers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all underwriting and portfolio management activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all loans and portfolio management activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, portfolio management, or related roles.
- Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial modeling and risk assessment.
- Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of real estate market trends, property types, and regulatory requirements.
